Welcome from the Dean of Students
This is the Web home of the Office of the Dean of Students in the College. We are dedicated to offering students assistance and support as they progress through their four undergraduate years. Our mission is to ensure that each student has an educational experience that is full and rewarding, and that meets each student's individual goals.
A staff of more than twenty full-time College advisers provides academic guidance, long-range planning, and other types of support. We work collaboratively with faculty and colleagues from all areas of the University. We also lend specialized assistance to minority students, to students preparing to study abroad, to students interested in law or medicine, and to applicants to national scholarship competitions.
While we help students draft plans that enable them to explore the almost limitless possibilities of a liberal arts education, we also assist advisees who are experiencing personal difficulties, illness, financial troubles, or interpersonal problems.
The goal of the Office of the Dean of Students is to support young scholars while helping them to discover opportunities and meet challenges that will advance their education. We believe that education occurs both within and outside the classroom, and we welcome the opportunity to enhance your development as a whole individual as you undergo the formative college years.
Sincerely,
Susan M. Art
Dean of Students in the College
