Confidentiality, Privacy, and Student Records

Adviser-student-parent interactions and release of grades

Advisers treat relationships with students as private and do not discuss personal or academic matters outside the office. When a student or parent completes a FERPA Certification and Release Statement, advisers will share grades and information about changes in status or enrollment with parents. Grade reports are sent to the student's permanent address two to three weeks after the end of the quarter. Contact the University Registrar for the exact date.

If a FERPA statement is completed but parents do not receive grades, the student should contact the Office of the University Registrar. If students are unsure if they completed a FERPA, they can ask at the advising reception desk or call 773-702-8615.
